The Clinic
Dr Peter Mason ADHD & Psychiatry Services was founded in 2018. Dr Mason is the sole practitioner in the service. He has over 35 years’ experience in Psychiatry, having worked both with the NHS and privately, and has been a Consultant Psychiatrist since 1997.
Dr Mason has specialised in adult ADHD since 2006 when he began to develop the first Adult ADHD service in the North West of England. He has built on this experience, and offers holistic assessments of adults (16+) with symptoms suggestive of ADHD and other mental health problems, offering appropriate medical interventions and follow-up.
The service has close links with other private and charitable providers, and offers assessments and pharmacological treatments to individual self-funding patients.

Dr Mason sees people for their clinic appointments at 88 Rodney Street, Liverpool L1 9AR. The building is easily accessible for wheelchair users. The main entrance of the building is at ground floor level and clinic rooms and waiting areas are wheelchair accessible.
Number 88 Rodney Street is situated opposite Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. There is pay on exit parking at the cathedral, as well as metered parking on Rodney Street and surrounding streets. Rodney Street is within half a mile of central Liverpool’s transport links.

The assessment and on-going treatment and support is offered in a collaborative way, to help each patient achieve their desired state of health and functional well-being. Patients are expected to take the lead in treatment decisions based on the best evidence provided by the service, and are supported in the decisions that they make to ensure that they are empowered to take control of their difficulties.
The service aims to be inclusive, non-discriminatory and staff, patients and their relatives/carers are always treated with dignity and respect. Privacy of the individual is always respected, and all information relating to individuals is treated in a confidential manner.

Dr. Peter Mason
Dr Mason graduated in 1987 from the University of Nottingham Medical School and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1991. In 1997 he became a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist in Skelmersdale, and in 2002 he moved to Birkenhead.
In 2006, Dr Mason treated his first adult with ADHD, when most people were sceptical about the condition. He developed Adult ADHD services in Wirral, Liverpool, Cheshire, and Bolton and won innovation awards to pilot ADHD services in prisons and community drug services.
He has written and contributed to papers on ADHD in the areas of offenders, women, substance misuse, psychosis, outcomes, and service provision. He speaks at national and international conferences on ADHD and has contributed to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on ADHD. He is a trustee of the ADHD Foundation.
Dr Mason is involved in training psychiatrists and GPs in the diagnosis and management of ADHD and is an advisor to the pharmaceutical company, Takeda, developing ADHD training programs and literature for psychiatrists.
